Hamburg Blankenese, oil on canvas, 90x60x2 cm / 23,6 x 35,4 x 0,8″.
The view from the water of the Elbe beach with Süllberg and the stair quarter in Blankenese are among the most beautiful Hamburg experiences for me. Here I forget that I live in a big city and that the Elbe is just a river, not the open sea!
I painted the shapes and positions of the houses realistically from a photo.
Stylistically, the right-angled, small-part froms of the houses are reflected in the sky. On the one hand, this gives the picture a modern effect, as one thinks of pixels, and on the other hand, the parts of the picture visually merge with each other. The large wave formally closes the picture at the bottom. The higher degree of abstraction directs the viewer’s gaze to the houses and their reflections in the water.
All in all, a classically modern Hamburg picture that fits into both modern and traditional interior styles.
The edges are painted, the painting can be hung without additional framing.
