Clair de Lune – The piano piece by Claude Debussy has been a favourite of the artist for a long time. Her piano teacher asked her to come up with a text to play it with even more expression. For her, however, the sounds rather reflect a mood in colours that she has tried to express in this painting. Mysterious, quiet, a little romantic – like bathing in the moonlight alone on a balmy summer night.
Of course, parallels to romantic painting of the 19th century also suggest themselves here: The colour blue, symbolising longing and dream, and the motif of the figure on the back looking into the distance: very familiar from Caspar David Friedrich’s “Wanderer over the Sea of Fog”.

The edges are painted, the picture can be hung without additional framing.
